This course is part of the following Program(s): Cabinetmaking Techniques
This course involves the production of two projects: an oak double pedestal roll-top desk and a cherry or walnut hall table with curved sides, a drawer, and incised tapered legs. Through these projects the student becomes familiar with layout and design, detailed cutting lists, jig and template construction, and traditional methods of furniture construction. The theoretical portion of the class covers terminology, creating a detailed cutting list, and practical construction methods. Veneered composition panels are used as well as solid lumber. Projects are raffled at the end of the course and winners pay material costs. |
