Using today's technology and modestly-priced hardware and software, students learn the fundamentals of how to record (multi-track), edit, arrange and mix high-quality music, songs and sounds - on the computer. With a focus on audio recording, topics include microphone types and miking techniques, qualities of a good performance and a good recording, recording audio tracks to create music and/or song layers, basic audio/wave editing, virtual instruments, arranging and mixing, rendering multiple audio tracks to a 'stereo' WAV file...and more. Students complete this course by burning an audio CD of at least one group project. This course is instructed using Cubase. |
